The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Wednesday again denied bail to war crimes accused Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayedee, nayeb-e-ameer of Jama'at-e-Islami, reports UNB. After hearing both sides, the three-member tribunal headed by Justice Nizamul Huq passed the orders. The tribunal rejected the bail prayer on two counts - no new ground was found for considering bail and the investigation into the crimes against humanity faced by the accused is at the fag end. Passing the orders, the tribunal, however, asked the jail authorities to arrange medical treatment for the accused at the BIRDEM instead of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital which, according to the accused, did not treat him properly. Since BIRDEM is a specialized private hospital, the accused will have to bear all costs of medical treatment, said the tribunal orders. Disposing of Sayedee's bail petition, the tribunal fixed Thursday for hearing the bail petitions submitted by Jama'at ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, assistant secretaries general Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Molla in identical cases of crimes against humanity.
