Writers, poets, translators, editors and publishers from India and Bangladesh have agreed to form a platform to work towards achieving a 'balanced exchange' of books and publications between the two countries.
The decision was taken at the concluding day of the five-day integrated programme on "Indo-Bangla Cultural Initiatives" organised by Sadhona and Writers.ink, and supported by the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh, reports BSS.
Under the aegis of the programme a festival on "Indo-Bangla Festival of Books and Writers" was held from November 2 to November 6. A large number of eminent writers, poets, translators, editors and publishers from both the countries took part in the function.
They also decided to record literary and cultural traditions and its continuity in contemporary times and address gender disparities in the world of publishing.
They also resolved to publish at least one publication from the platform each year dedicated to writings from India and Bangladesh. "All participants will try to dedicate at least one of their publications to writings of India and Bangladesh", a declaration said.
They also decided to congregate at least once a year either in India or in Bangladesh.
