Dhaka University incident inquiry commission's chief, Justice Habibur Rahman Khan, Sunday visited the DU gymnasium from where an unprecedented student protest broke out following a brawl between students and some army personnel on August 20, reports UNB
Justice Khan, a retired judge of the Supreme Court, also visited the Vice-chancellor's residence and Senate building as part of his on-the-spot investigation.
VC SMA Faiz Ahmed, Pro-VC Yusuf Haider and Assistant Proctor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah were present.
Talking to reporters, Justice Khan said he might summon university teachers and officials who were present at the time of incident at the university playground where a football match had been underway before the trouble erupted.
The Vice-chancellor assured the inquiry commission of extending all cooperation in conducting the investigation.
Faiz wondered how the students protest had escalated over a "trivial incident" and hoped the commission would give a guideline for maintaining peace and academic atmosphere on the campus.
