Information Minister Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday called on the artists to instill human values and patriotism in the new generation through their works, reports BSS.
"We are making rapid progress in infrastructure development. Now we have to give more emphasis on building a developed nation having human values and patriotism," he said at an art exhibition on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the National Museum auditorium in the city.
The minister said: "With the technological advancement, we, the human beings, are also turning into 'machine'. We are being self-centric. We will have to get rid of this state."
Hasan urged the artists and social workers to help develop human qualities among the youths who will lead the nation in the coming days.
Tarunya Kotha, a youth platform, arranged the exhibition at the Nalinikanto Bhattashali Gallery of the museum, where 100 artworks on Bangabandhu by 81 artists were showcased.
Noted artists Samarjit Roy Chowdhury and Jamal Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition while State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, Awami League Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, AL central working committee member Marufa Akhter Poppy, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Highlighting different development activities of the government, the information minister said under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country is marching ahead in every sector, alongside ensuring food safety, sending own satellite into the space, resolving the enclave problems, land boundary issue with India and the maritime boundary issues with Myanmar and India.
"Now we will have to build a nation having all humanitarian values and principles, patriotism and nationalism," he said.
