The outlawed Islamic outfit 'Ansarullah Bangla Team' has once again issued death threat to 25 renowned personalities, including Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, reports UNB.
The outlawed group issued the threat through a letter sent to the DU VC by post, said officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahbagh thana AB Siddique.
He said Prof Arefin Siddique received the letter around 11:30 am on Tuesday.
Those received the death threat also include eminent historian Prof Dr Syed Anwar Hussain, Prof Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, cultural personalities Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu and Ramendra Majumder, Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee president Shahriar Kabir, Bhorer Kagoj editor Shyamol Dutta, journalists Munni Shaha, Nobonita Chowdhury, Abed Khan and Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Dr Imran H Sarkar, BCL general secretary Siddique Nazmul Alam and Chhatra Moitree president Bappa Dipto Basu.
Meanwhile, DU Proctor Amzad Hossain filed a general diary (GD) in this connection, the OC said.
Earlier on May 21 this year, the same outfit issued death threat to 10 personalities, including the DU VC, Prime Ministers' adviser HT Imam and Zafar Iqbal.
