Islamic parties seek new law by Dec 25 for Latif\\\'s death penalty

Sammilito Islami Dal Samuho, a coalition of Islamic parties, in the city gave the government Saturday until December 25 for enacting a new law with a provision of capital punishment to bring those who defame Islam, including former minister Latif Siddique, to justice, reports UNB.
Maulana Zafrullah Khan, secretary general of the coalition, made the announcement from a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club.
The coalition also announced some fresh programmes, including submission of a memorandum to the Prime Minister through deputy commissioners (DCs) following demonstration rallies in all districts on December 10, and mass-awareness raising programme, mass campaign and views exchange in support of capital punishment for atheists.
"If our demand is not met by December 25, we'll be compelled to go for a continuous mass movement," Zafrullah said.
Leaders of Khelafat Andolan, Khelafat Majlish, Islami Oikya Andolan, Sammilito Olama Mashayekh Parishad and Quran Prachar Sangstha were present at the press conference.
