Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq said on Sunday the Election Commission (EC) will investigate the irregularities of the recent city corporations but not the government, reports BSS.
"It's not government's responsibility to investigate the issue of polls rigging," he said while speaking at a discussion at the National Press Club in the city.
Bangabandhu Joy Bangla League organised the discussion on 'Bangabandhu, Swadhinata and Bangladesh' with Kawsar-e-Alam Pradhan in the chair.
Awami League Presidium Member Satish Chandra Roy and freedom fighter Ismat Quader Gama, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
He said the demand for investigating the reported vote-rigging in recent polls raised by UN Secretary General Ban-Ki-Moon is illogical.
"If there was any vote rigging, how BNP secured 44 per cent votes in the polls?," the minister questioned.
