Closing the summing-up arguments on factual and law points from both sides, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) kept its verdict pending Wednesday to be delivered any day on the war crimes case against former Jatiya Party (JP) MP Engineer Abdul Jabbar of Mathbaria, Pirojpur, now on the run, reports UNB.
The three-member tribunal, headed by Justice M Enayetur Rahim, fixed the date after prosecutors-Zahid Imam and Tapas K Baul-rebutted the state defence arguments.
Before closing the hearings, the tribunal asked the prosecution whether there is any scope of mitigating punishment instead of capital punishment as they claim in the case.
