Jamaat Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid alleged that his party activists were subjected to repression in the name of trial of war criminals.
He was speaking at a function of Chhatra Shibir at the city's National Press Club Thursday, reports UNB.
He said the government should forge unity of all parties to seek solution of the severe power, gas and water crisis instead of carrying out repression on the opponents.
Mujahid said, "Those who are demanding resolution of the problems causing untold sufferings to the people are bracketed with the war criminals".
He alleged that a large number of arms and ammunition had been recovered from BCL hubs, but no action was taken against them.
Shibir President Rezaul Karim informed that about 15,000 students of his organisation had been implicated in false cases since the Rajshahi University (RU) campus incident. About 1000 of them had been arrested. Police extracted false statement from many of them under physical and mental torture.
Referring to the imposition of Section 144 at different places foiling meetings of Jamaat and Shibir, Karim reminded the government of instances when people of this country took to the streets violating curfew, not to speak section of 144, when situation demanded.
