Jamaat condemns Prothom Alo for publishing offensive cartoon

Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh has condemned the daily Prothom Alo for publishing an objectionable cartoon in its supplement, 'Aalpin', hurting the religious sentiment of Muslims.
In a joint statement Wednesday, Jamaat Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami and Secretary General Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid said Prothom Alo has hurt the religious sentiment of the Muslims of Bangladesh and across the world, reports UNB.
"Bangladesh's history and tradition prove that it's people never tolerate any attack on Islam and its Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Sm)", the statement said.
The Jamaat leaders also called for launching an inquiry whether Prothom Alo was conspiring to make the country unstable, hurting the religious sentiment of Muslims by publishing an objectionable cartoon in the holy month of Ramadan.
