Jamaat enforces 36-hr hartal in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Feb 9 (UNB): The first day of the 36-hour hartal in the district, enforced by the local Jamaat-e-Islami in protest of the arrest of its district unit ameer and former member of parliament Abdul Khalek Mondol, passed peacefully on Monday.
The shutdown began at 6:00 am on Monday will end at 6:00pm on Tuesday.
No procession or picketing was seen in support of the hartal in the district while most of the business establishments kept their shutters down.
