KUSHTIA, Nov 5 (BSS): Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said here Wednesday that the Jamaat-e-Islami and its supporter BNP chief Khaleda Zia are 'disqualified for politics and democracy' in the country.
"Jamaat-e-Islami had carried out genocide in 1971 and now they are calling hartals against the court verdict of independent Bangladesh. For this, I think they are unfit for democracy and politics," he said while exchanging views with journalists at the local circuit house.
Mr Inu said it is very sad that Khaleda Zia is extending support to them (Jamaat) by maintaining silence.
"Begum Khaleda Zia is playing the role of a neo-razakar supporting the razakars of 1971. Now it is time to take a tough decision. If this decision is not taken, Bangladesh would not march forward," he said, adding that the Jamaat-e-Islami and Khaleda Zia are unfit for politics and democracy.
Kushtia Satiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) General Secretary Abdul Alim Swapan was present, among others, on the occasion.
Later, the minister addressed a big rally at Halsha College ground under Kumarkhali Upazila.
Meanwhile, Dhaka City Awami League (AL) general secretary and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) said Wednesday that BNP should be tried for sheltering and patronising the war criminals.
Jamaat, Khaleda unfit for politics, says Inu
