Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh started a coordinated rehabilitation work to help people rebuild their houses, and social, religious and educational institutions in the cyclone-affected areas of the country.
"From today, the party relief committee in its second phase started the work for rehabilitation," Secretary General of the party Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed said at a press briefing in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
In the first phase, he said, the party joined in relief work across the cyclone-affected areas with necessary food, medicines and clothes for the people in distress.
"About 9097 volunteers have worked in the coastal areas until Monday" he said.
He said a nine-member central relief committee, headed by Nayeb-Ameer Makbul Ahmad, was formed to coordinate the relief and rehabilitation activities.
