Jamaat leader held in Narail

NARAIL, Aug 9 (UNB): Police in a drive arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami with a shooter gun from Rajupur area of Lohagara upazila on Saturday afternoon on sabotage charge.

The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, assistant secretary general of Narail Jamaat-e-Islami.

Police said on secret information, a team of police led by sub-inspectors Nayon Patwari and Shimul conducted a raid in the area around 4:30 pm and arrested Alamgir with the shooter gun.

Sheikh Lutfor Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lohagara thana, confirmed the incident.

Alamgir was accused in several cases for sabotage, added the OC.

A case was filed in this connection.
