Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh Friday condemned the Gonotontri Party president for demanding of the Election Commission not to allow religious parties, including Jamaat, to be registered and use 'scales of justice' as an election symbol, reports UNB.
Gonotontri Party President Nurul Islam placed the demands during a dialogue with the Election Commission Thursday.
"Nurul Islam's demands are unfair, illogical and undemocratic. He (Nurul) has no right to raise such demands," said Jamaat Publicity Secretary Muhammad Tasnim Alam in a statement Friday.
The Jamaat leader accused Nurul Islam of catching fishes in troubled water by placing unfair and illogical demands taking advantage of the dialogue with the EC.
