Jamaat-e-Islami Friday decided to sit in talks on electoral reforms with the Election Commission (EC) on Oct 25, reports bdnews24.com.
The party's policymaking Majlish-e-Shura also decided to table proposals before the EC on reforms to the election laws and has formed a committee to prepare a draft of the proposals.
The closed-door Majlish-e-Shura meeting that also discussed organisational matters was held at the Al Falah auditorium at Maghbazar in the city. Party chief Matiur Rahman Nizami was in the chair.
"Jamaat will sit in talks responding to the invitation of the EC. We will give proposals for holding an acceptable, free and fair election in the country and for reform of the EC," assistant secretary general M Kamruzzaman told the news agency after the meeting.
