The second day of the fresh 48-hour nationwide hartal, enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami protesting the death sentences awarded to its two leaders for war crimes, concluded Friday amid poor response, reports UNB.
The shutdown programme began at 6.00 am Wednesday and ended at 6.00 am Friday.
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered 27 crude bombs from Tejgaon Industrial area Thursday.
Vehicular movement was a bit less in the morning than normal days.
No long-route busses were seen either to leave or enter the city. Long-route bus services also remained suspended elsewhere across the country.
An adequate number of policemen remained deployed at the important points to fend off any untoward situation.

No major incident of violence was reported from any part of the country, including the capital Dhaka.
According to reports reaching the UNB news desk, bomb blasts, vandalism and arson attack took place in Sylhet, Chapainawabganj and Narayanganj districts during the shutdown on Thursday. Besides, police arrested 16 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir for their suspected attempt to carry out sabotage in Bogra in the morning.On Sunday, the Islamic party announced a 24-hour strike for Thursday protesting the capital punishment of its policymaker Mir Quasem Ali for war crimes.
On Monday, it called another 24-hour hartal for Wednesday protesting the verdict of the Supreme Court that upheld the death penalty of its assistant secretary general M Kamaruzzaman.
