Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will stage demonstrations across the country tomorrow (Monday) demanding the unconditional release of its Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami and Nayebe Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee, reports UNB.
In a statement, party acting secretary general Dr Shafiqur Rahman announced the programme Saturday.
"The government in a planned way has arranged a farce in the name of trial by filing false cases for so-called crimes against humanity against the Jamaat leaders to create a leadership vacuum in the party," the statement reads.
It claimed that the charges brought against Sayedee in connection with crimes against humanity for which he was awarded capital punishment by a tribunal were cent per cent false and fabricated.
The statement also claimed that party Nizami was also given death sentence by a lower court in a 'false' case of 10-truck arms haul in Chittagong.
It said a case on 'false charges of committing crime against humanity' was also filed against Nizami to gain political revenge on him. "The case awaits verdict."
