JaPa, Gono Odhikar Parishad men lock in clash in city

Leaders and activists of Jatiya Party (JaPa) and Gono Odhikar Parishad locked in a clash on Friday evening in front the JaPa central office in the capital's Kakrail area.
Inspector (Operations) at the Ramna Police Station Atiqul Alam Khandakar said that both groups chased each other and threw brickbats during the mayhem that ensued around 6:15pm. "We are on the spot and will provide details later," he said.
Soon after the incident, army and police personnel rushed to the spot. They were trying to bring the situation under control.
Jataiya Party leaders alleged that the Gono Odhikar Parishad men marching in a procession swooped on them.
On the contrary, Gono Odhikar Parishad leaders claimed that JaPa activists attacked their procession and threw brickbats targeting them.
