Jatiya Party ready to contest national election: Raushan

Leader of the opposition in parliament and Jatiya Party's Chief Patron Raushan Ershad on Sunday sought the full cooperation from President Mohammed Sahabuddin in conducting the upcoming 12th parliamentary election in a fair, free, impartial, and peaceful manner, reports UNB.
She sought the president's cooperation during a courtesy meeting with him at Bangabhaban.
President's Press Secretary Md Zainal Abedin said Raushan Ershad said that their party is ready for national election.
"Jatiya Party is an election-oriented party... We have already prepared to participate in the elections," said Raushan.
"We respect the constitution. So we welcome the schedule announced by the Election Commission," she added.
However, she also said that the last date of submitting paper could be extended as political parties need more time to prepare for the elections. The last day for filing nominations and income tax returns is November 30.
President Md. Sahabuddin said that there is no alternative to elections to continue the democratic process in the country.
BSS adds: Jatiya Party Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu on Sunday said their party will give candidates in 300 seats in the upcoming 12th national elections.
