A Dhaka court granted Sunday Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) general secretary Habibur Rashid Habib on a three-day police remand in connection with a vehicle-torching case, reports UNB.
Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor passed the order after hearing both the remand and bail petitions.
On Saturday, sub-inspector (SI) Azim Uddin of Shahbagh thana, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Habib before the court, seeking a 10-day remand.
On the other hand, his counsel Advocate Sanaullah Miah filed a bail petition Sunday.
After hearing, the court rejected the bail petition and allowed police to interrogate Habib in their custody for three days.
Immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city arrested Habib moments before his departure for abroad in the early hours Saturday.
Later, he was shown arrested in the case filed with Shahbagh thana on September 22 on charges of vandalising and torching vehicles during the daylong hartal enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
