JCD leader shot dead in Pabna

A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has been shot and hacked to death by miscreants in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna, report agencies.
The incident occurred in the Gopalpur area around 10:30 pm on Thursday, according to Pranab Kumar, additional superintendent of police for the Ishwardi Circle.
The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Imran Hossain Shohag, who hailed from Mannabipara village in the upazila. He was a member of the upazila JCD unit and a proposed member secretary of one faction of the BNP's student affiliate.
He was also the secretary of the Ishwardi branch of the Zia Cyber Force.
Shohag was chatting with his friends at a tea stall next to the Gopalpur rail lines on Thursday night when a group of masked individuals attacked him unprovoked, hacking and shooting him, police said, citing locals.
Shohag was killed on the spot.
ASP Pranab said police rushed to the spot when the incident was reported. A portion of the victim's head was severely injured and broken.
The body was sent to the morgue at Pabna General Hospital for a post-mortem.
Law enforcers have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and the motive for the killing, the police official said.
