The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the BNP, has raised concerns about the source of funds used by Chhatra Shibir for their Iftar expenses, reports UNB.

Speaking at a press conference at the BNP Nayapaltan central office in the capital on Friday, JCD General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir questioned how the Shibir, which claims to spend Tk 0.3 million every day on Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan, is able to fund such a large sum.

"The General Secretary of Shibir mentioned yesterday (Thursday) that they are spending three lakh taka every day on Iftar. If this is accurate, they will spend a total of 90 lakh taka throughout the holy month of Ramadan," he said.

"We would like to ask them, through you (the media), how they are earning this 90 lakh (9 million) taka as an ordinary student organisation, and from where their funding is coming," Nasir added.
