Jatiya Chhatra Shakti (JCS) has demanded the implementation of the newly- adopted teacher recruitment policy and full-scale digital automation of administrative and academic activities at Jahangirnagar University (JU).
The demands were raised at a press conference on the university's Shaheed Minar premises on Monday.
In a written statement, Zia Uddin Ayan, president of the JU unit of the organisation, expressed concern over the initiative to follow the outdated 2016 recruitment policy despite the existence of an effective and reformed new policy.
"Adopting the old policy at a public university directly undermines academic transparency, ethical standards, and quality assurance," he said.
"The 2016 policy does not require demo classes or structured viva examinations, making it difficult to properly assess candidates' teaching competence and research capacity. To address these shortcomings, a reformed, multi-stage evaluation-based recruitment policy was later introduced."
