JHENIDAH, Mar 25: The triennial council of district unit of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) was held on the Wazir Ali High School field in Jhenidah after ten years amid enthusiasm and festivity among the leaders and workers of the party on Wednesday. The last council was held here in 2005.
Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif, joint secretary of AL central committee and chief guest of the programme, inaugurated the council through hoisting national and party flags and releasing pigeons and balloons.
With President of Jhenidah District AL Md Abdul Hye in the chair, the conference was addressed, among others, by joint secretary of AL central committee Jahangir Kabir Nanok.
Party sources said, at the end of the 2nd session Abdul Hye and Municipality Mayor Saidul Karim Mintu were declared President and General Secretary of the district unit of AL respectively.
