JMB man jailed for 10 years in Aug 17 serial bombing case

CHITTAGONG, Sept 22 (UNB): A Speedy Trial Tribunal Monday sentenced JMB divisional commander Javed Iqbal Mohammad to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for bombings at Agrabad and Kadamtali in the port city on August 17, 2005.
He was also fined Tk 5,000, in default, to suffer one year RI more.
Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge M Shafiqul Karim also acquitted another accused Arshadul Alam alias T Alam from the case, as allegation against him could not be proved.
Javed Iqbal and Arshadul Alam were present in the dock when the judgment was pronounced. Javed Iqbal was earlier sentenced to 30 years in prison in three separate cases filed for bombings in the city on the same day.
