JS body for building Shaheed Minar at all schools

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Estimates on Wednesday recommended undertaking a project to establish Shaheed Minar at all educational institutions in memory of the 1952 Language Movement martyrs, reports BSS.

The committee placed this recommendation at its third meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad with committee Chairman M Abdus Shahid in the chair.

The committee elaborately discussed the ongoing projects under Secondary and Higher Secondary Division of the Education Ministry for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 fiscal years.

Committee members Chief Whip Nur-E-Alam Chowdhury, Yousuf Abdullah Harun, Fazle Hossain Badsha, Ahsan Adelur Rahman and Wasika Ayesha Khan, were present at the meeting.

The committee suggested enhancing quality of building construction work at the educational institutions and increasing manpower of Education Engineering Department at district and upazila levels to ensure transparency of the work.

The committee also recommended introducing internal audit system to speed up the work under the projects.

High officials of Education Ministry and Jatiya Sangsad secretariat were present, among

others.
