JS body for independent probe into recent abductions

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Ministry recommended Tuesday an independent investigation into incident of recent abductions and killings, reports UNB.
The committee asked law enforcement agencies, including police and RAB to be more active and vigilant in curbing terrorism and crimes like secret killings and abductions.
The committee said those involved in recent abductions and murders in Narayanganj must get exemplary punishment.
The JS body came up with the recommendations in its second meeting held with its chairman Tipu Munshi in the chair at the Parliament building.
The meeting discussed the overall activities of the home ministry, and measures of the Narcotics Control Department to curb use of narcotics.
It said the issue of increasing manpower of the department to 1722 is now awaiting approval of the cabinet.
