JS caucus for compensation to violence-hit children

The Parliamentary Caucus on Children Rights has called upon the government to provide compensation to child victims of the recent violence, reports UNB.

The group came up with the call at its 2nd meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday with Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha, MP, in the chair.

The parliamentary caucus also asked the government to take proper measures to ensure safety of children, said a press release of the Parliament Secretariat on Friday.

The meeting also decided to raise four issues in Parliament.

The issues include incorporating 'child budget' in the national budget as per the government's announcement, creating scope for universal standard of education for all children, giving recognition of education as a right of children and taking effective steps to stop physical and psychological repression on the children.

Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Mia joined the meeting as the chief guest while MPs Dr Enamur Rahman, Zabunnasa Afroz, Ummey Razia Kajol, Lutfa Taher, Fazilatunnesa Bappy, Shamsul Alam Dudu, Panchanan Biswas, Md Yeasin Ali, Manoranjan Shil Gopal, Kamrun Nahar Chowdhury, Ayesha Ferdaus, Advocate Navana Akter, Umme Kulsum Smrity, Pinu Khan and Quazi Rosy attended it.

Deputy Country Director of Save the Children Sharon Hauser presented a report on the recent violence-hit children.
