JS to organise all-party rally against poverty Oct 17

Jatiyo Sangsad (JS) will organise an all-party rally against poverty in the capital on October 17, aiming to give a nudge to the poverty-alleviation drive, reports UNB.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia will be invited to attend the grand rally as the chief guest and the special guest respectively.
Besides, internationally reputed personalities, including UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, will be invited to the programme that will be held with Speaker Abdul Hamid in the chair.
The decisions were disclosed in a preparation meeting held Wednesday at the JS with the Speaker presiding.
"If held in presence of the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader, the rally will create a positive impact on poverty alleviation," the meeting hoped.
Deputy Speaker Shawkat Ali, Chief Whip Vice-Principal Abdus Shaheed, Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Abdur Razzak, Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Dipu Moni, State Minister for Liberation War Affairs ABM Tajul Islam, State Minister for LGRD Jahangir Kabir Nanak, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education M Motahar Hossain, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Whip M Mujibul Haq and Opposition Whip Zainul Abdin Farruque, among others, attended the meeting.
