Jubo Dal leader killed, one held in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, May 3 (UNB): A local Jubo Dal leader was stabbed to death by some miscreants in Dhanmondi area in the district town on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Afzal Hossain Loro (28), vice-president of district unit Jubo Dal and son of Samsuddin Mandal of Sabujnagar area in the town.

Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Joypurhat thana, said a group of miscreants swooped on Loro and stabbed him indiscriminately while he was visiting his paddy field around 12:00 pm, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to district Modern Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police arrested Mohon, son of Shahjahan Ali, from Muslimnagar area in the town for his suspected link in the murder.

During primary interrogation, Mohon reportedly confessed that he along with his associate Afzal killed Loro following previous enmity.
