Jubo League activist killed in Chittagong

CHITTAGONG, Feb 14 (UNB): A Jubo League activist was hacked to death at Burir Dokan in Rangunia upazila here on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Jasimuddin Chowdhury, 35, son of Bebi Chowdhury at Pomra village of the upazila.

Witnesses said a group of 7 to 8 people chopped Jasim with sharp weapons when he was taking tea at a tea stall around 6:30pm, leaving him seriously injured.

He was rushed to Rangunia Sadar Hospital where doctors referred him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Jasim succumbed on way to the CMCH around 7:15pm.

Humayan Kabir, officer-in-charge of Rangunia Police Station, confirmed the incident.
