Jubo League leader beaten dead in Noakhali

NOAKHALI, Sept 7 (UNB/bdnews24.com): A local Jubo League (JL) leader was beaten to death by miscreants in Amishapara area in Sonaimuri uapzila on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Arif Hossain, 35, joint general secretary of Amishapara union JL and son of Sirajul Haque of the area.

Jasimuddin, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Noakhali said a group of 10-15 miscreants equipped with sticks and lethal weapons intercepted Arif's motorcycle while he was going to Amishapara Bazar and beat him mercilessly  leaving him severely injured.

Locals rushed him to Sonamuri Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.

Later, the body was sent to Noakhali Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

As the news of Arif's death reached his area, agitated locals vandalised some houses and shops there.

Locals also blamed BNP for the murder.

Sonaimuri thana OC Afraful Islam told bdnews24.com that Hossain was attacked around 11pm on Saturday.
