Jubo League leader killed in Rangpur

Our CorrespondentRANGPUR, Oct 18: A Jubo League leader was killed allegedly by his rivals in Kamarpara area of Rangpur town on Sunday night. The victim is Sajid Parvez Jadu, joint convener of Jubo League Rangpur town unit. Police said Jadu was one of the contractors of Rangpur Water Development Board (WDB). A few days ago, two groups of contractors belonging to the local Awami League were locked in a clash over a Tk 230 million tender, they said. Jadu might have been killed by his rival contractors over the tender dispute, they added. According to Jadu's family sources his rivals Dual Mohanta and Bonka alias Apple of Kamarpara area called Jadu over cellphone at around 10pm on Sunday. Receiving the phone call, he went out of the house and did not return home. Local people found Jadu's body lying in a ditch in the morning and informed the police. On information police rushed to the spot and recovered the body at 8:00am and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
