Jubo League leader Samrat jailed for 20 years in graft case

A court has sentenced Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat, former president of the Dhaka South city unit of Jubo League, to 20 years of imprisonment in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), reports BSS.

The court also ordered that the properties amassed through corruption be attached in favour of the state.

Judge Md Zakaria Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 delivered the judgment on Wednesday in the absence of the convict and issued an arrest warrant against him.

Earlier, on November 12, 2019, ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam filed the case against Samrat for allegedly amassing wealth worth around Tk 30 million beyond his known sources of income.
