Judgement in graft case against Alamgir July 26

July 20, 2007 00:00:00

The judgment in the graft case facing detained former state minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir will be delivered on July 26, reports UNB.
Judge Shahed Noorudin of the special make-shift court at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the city, trying high-profile corruption suspects, set the date Thursday after closing arguments made by Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) and defence lawyers.
The anti-graft watchdog sued Alamgir, a bureaucrat-turned-politician of Awami League (AL), on charge of amassing wealth worth Tk 11.7 million (1.17 crore) 'by illegal means'.
He is among a lot of politicians like former ministers and lawmakers, business tycoons and bureaucrats being herded up and put to trial under a purge in the apolitical interim period.
