Dismissing the petition seeking leave-to-appeal, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court reaffirmed Monday the HC order that had withdrawn the murder case filed against nine people, including Ruhul Quddus, an incumbent HC judge, about 26 years ago, reports UNB.

After hearing the petition, a three-member Appellate Division bench, headed by Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, passed the order.

The case was filed on November 18, 1988 with Boalia Police Station, a day after the murder of Rajshahi University student Aslam Hossain, an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Shibir activist Nawab Ali, victim's roommate at Abdul Latif Hall, filed the murder case mentioning then JSD Chhatra League leader Ruhul Quddus alias Babu as the principal accused, in the killing along with several others.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam appeared for the state.
