A Dhaka court has placed Kamal Ahmed Mojumder, former State Minister for Industries under the Awami League government, on a three-day remand, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order on Saturday when sub-inspector of Kafrul Police Station Harun-or-Rashid, also investigating officer of the case, produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
A team of Kafrul Police Station arrested Kamal from his Gulshan residence in connection with the killing of Jagannath University student Ikramul Haque Sajid during student-led mass movement.
Majumder, who also owns SS Agro Complex and previously served as the member of parliament for Dhaka-15 constituency, had gone into hiding along with other ministers and parliamentarians after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country on August 5.
Police said Mojumder is facing multiple charges, with several cases already filed against him.
Ikramul's father filed a case against 73 people on September 7.
According to the case statement, Ekramul, a master's student of Jagannath University, suffered bullet injuries during the mass uprising at Mirpur-10 on August 4.
He was taken to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where he succumbed to his injuries on August 14.
