A CMM court in Dhaka Tuesday sent BNP chairperson's adviser Khandker Mahbub Hossain, also the vice chairman of Bangladesh Bar Council, to jail after rejecting both his bail and the IO's remand prayers in a case filed in connection with March 2 violence in the city last year, reports UNB.
Metropolitan magistrate M Rezaul Karim passed the order after hearing the bail prayer moved by defence counsel advocate Sanaullah Mia and the remand plea submitted by investigating officer (IO) of the case DB inspector Fazlur Rahman.
The case was filed with Ramna Police Station on March 2 last against 28 BNP leaders, including Khandker Mahbub and party's acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, on charges of vandalising vehicles, blasting cocktails and preventing police from discharging duties in Shantinagar and Malibagh areas in the city during a demonstration on the day.
