Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said Saturday BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has become mentally distressed after loosing all the hopes and now she has started giving irrelevant speeches, reports BSS.
"There are no signs of democratic values in the statements of BNP leadership, as they don't believe in democracy. On the contrary, Awami League (AL) is the party of the people and always works for them. That is why, it was never afraid of ridiculous threats made by Begum Zia," he said.
The senior AL leader said this at a rally after visiting the areas eroded by river in Ratankandi Union under Sirajganj Sadar Upazila on the day. Nasim immediately asked the officials concerned to take necessary actions to stop the erosion quickly. Later, the minister also visited Ratankandi Community Clinic.
"The present government has come to power under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina and with the mandate of the people. So there is no scope of overthrowing a government that was elected constitutionally and democratically," Nasim added.
Earlier in the day, the minister visited 250-bed hospital in Sirajganj Sadar. He sought help from the people of all walks of life, including the physicians and journalists, to ensure the proper healthcare for rural people.
