Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said on Wednesday BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is enjoying more facilities in prison than the provisions that exist in the jail code, reports BSS.
"Khaleda Zia is already getting more facilities than those allowed by the provisions of jail code. Government has no authority to do anything for her by violating the law," he said.
The minister said these while talking to journalists after inaugurating 37th fundamental training course for assistant judges at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) here in the capital.
Presided over by JATI Director General Justice Khondker Musa Khaled, the inaugural ceremony was addressed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Abu Saleh Sk Md Zahirul Haque and JATI Director (training) Golam Kibria, among others.
While answering a question on the appointment of judges at the apex court, the law minister said, "Right now we have five judges at The Appellate Division. It is true that the number of cases is much higher compared to the number of judges. But I disagree with the term that there is a crisis of judges at the Appellate Division. In spite of this, appointment of judges will be made at the Appellate Division soon."
Anisul Huq in his speech before the trainee judges urged them to take modern and science-oriented initiatives.
"Court is last resort of the justice seekers. Judges have to be honest and devoted to ensure justice. Training is very important for increasing professional skills of the judges. So we would take initiatives to make the training period from existing two months to four to six months," Huq said.
