Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak alleged Monday BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is involved in anti-state activities through delivering venomous speeches against the country's law enforcement agencies, report agencies.
"Khaleda Zia has been delivering instigating remarks against law enforcement agencies. She's also sending out venomous messages to international organisations against the agencies. Her activities are anti-state ones," he said.
The AL leader said this while addressing a press conference at the party president Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi political office.
Addressing a public rally in Comilla Saturday, Khaleda Zia sharply criticised the country's law enforcement agencies, particularly the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), for what she said their indulgence in criminal activities and killing innocent people.
Khaleda Zia reiterated her call for foreign countries not to train police forces and sell arms, ammunition, teargas and explosives to them as those are being used against opposition leaders and activists, common people and for killing and students making them disappeared.
Nanak said there is an indication of deep conspiracy in her speech against the law enforcement agencies.
"But, it's Khaleda Zia who established RAB. Now she's trying to stigmatise RAB which people wouldn't accept under any circumstances," he added.
Nanak said, "Leader of the BNP-Jamaat combine Khaleda Zia has been engaged in evil activity to mislead the people resorting to blatant lies and falsehood, indecorous, un-courteous and distorting statements to cover up her misrule and misdeeds of the past. As Khaleda Zia could not rise from sleep before 5 in the afternoon she could not see the developments achieved by the present government."
