KUSHTIA, Nov 7 (UNB) : Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said on Friday BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is talking gibberish against the government out of the frustration that she will not be able to come to power in near future.

"As Khaleda Zia made a grave mistake by boycotting the 10th parliamentary polls, she has been talking nonsense on various occasions out of her frustration," he said.

Hanif was talking to reporters after a views-exchange meeting with the GPA-5 scorer students of Koburhat Junior Child Secondary School in Sadar Upazila.

Referring to the BNP chief's remarks that the government is ruling the country by means of secret agreements with foreign forces, he said it will not be possible to deceive the country's people by making imaginary claims.

The ruling party leader also observed that Khaleda Zia might have been aggrieved because there is no hope for establishing the evil politics and culture of Pakistan in Bangladesh.

BSS adds: Food Minister Quamrul Islam said Friday that Ziaur Rahman had freed 11,000 Pakistani collaborators and made an anti-Bangladesh element as the premier as part of his efforts to rehabilitate those who were opposed to the 1971 independence.

"He (Zia) had released 11,000 collaborators who were in jail . . . he allowed Ghulam Azam to return home and appointed Shah Azizur Rahman as the prime minister while his son Tarique Zia facilitated the emergence of militancy when their BNP-Jamaat alliance was in power," he told a discussion to mark November 7 as the "Freedom Fighters' Killing Day".

Mr Quamrul alleged that being an agent of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, Zia took part in the Liberation War and revealed his real face after the August 15, 1975 assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
