Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, the workers’ front of BNP, is all set to stage a rally in the city’s historic Suhrawardy Udyan on Thursday, marking the May Day. “We’ve completed all the necessary preparations for arranging the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on the May Day. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will address it as the chief guest,” said BNP vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman. He was addressing a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office after a joint meeting of the party. Noman said they have already sought permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for holding the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on the May Day. Asked whether they got the permission, he said, “We hope we’ll be allowed to hold the rally. As it’s a programme marking an international day, we think the government will consider it positively,” according to UNB.
