Khaleda to conduct party activities from Banani office after Eid

Former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia said Saturday she would sit in her new office at Banani after Eid-ul-Fitr to formally carry out party activities, after the lapse of nearly two years now, reports UNB.
She disclosed her plan to journalists after attending an iftar party organised by factions of BFUJ and DUJ at the National Press Club. She also exchanged greetings with the journalists at the press club.
This was her first public appearance beyond her meetings with leaders of BNP and the 4-party alliance after being released from jail on bail on September 11.
Khaleda declined to comment on the forthcoming elections. "I will not speak anything today. I just came here for iftar. I will talk to you when time will come."
When asked, a close aide to the immediate-past PM said when party activities would be conducted, "obviously that will include matters of election".
The BNP chairperson said she would exchange Eid greetings with cross-sections of people on the Eid day at the Ladies' Club at Eskaton at 11:30am. She will also conduct party activities from her new office at Banani after the Eid, Khaleda conveyed her Eid greetings to the people and sought blessings from all.
BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain, party's senior leaders Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman, M Shamsul Islam, MK Anwar, Nazrul Islam Khan and Rizvi Ahmed, Juba Dal president Barkatullah Bhulu, BNP city Mahila Dal secretary Shirin Sultana, Jamaat secretary general Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid, former MPs and leaders of BNP's front organisations attended the iftar.
Editors Ataus Samad, Reaz Uddin Ahmed, Golam Tahabur, Gias Kamal Chowdhury, Abul Asad, Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Mostafa Kamal Majumdar, Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel, BFUJ secretary general Ruhul Amin Gazi, DUJ president Abdus Shaheed, press club president Showkat Mahmud and general secretary Kamal Uddin Sabuj, and senior journalists were present.
After iftar, JESAS founding-chairman Abul Hashem Rana presented a bouquet to her marking the 16th founnding anniversary of JESAS, acultural organization of BNP.
Later, Khaleda Zia went to the mazar of slain president and BNP-founder Ziaur Rahman and offered fateha.
