Khaleda Zia to attend lawyers rally

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will address a rally of her party's lawyers' forum scheduled for Saturday to protest the killing of Narayanganj lawyer Chandan Sarker, reports UNB.

The rally of Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum will be held on the Supreme Court premises at 10:00 am.

Chandan Sarker was killed late last month along with six other people in Narayanganj following their abductions. Among the six other killed were Nazrul Islam, a panel mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation, who was also a local leader of the ruling Awami League.

"Khaleda Zia will attend the programme as the chief guest while Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum (JAF) president Rafiqul Islam Miah will preside over it," JAF secretary general Mahbubuddin Khokan told a press conference.

Khokan said their programme is also meant for registering the lawyers' protest against what he said interference of the executive branch in the judiciary.
