The BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's lawyers have displayed lack of confidence in the judge after he continued the witness deposition in her absence in the graft case hearings, reports bdnews24.com.
The former prime minister's lawyers pleaded for extension of time as she could not appear in court for the hearing of the Zia Orphanage Trust and the Zia Charitable Trust corruption cases Thursday.
Dhaka's Third Metropolitan Special Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar's court disallowed the plea.
He, however, exempted Khaleda from appearing in person and went on with the deposition sparking a ruckus in the court which is located on the makeshift premises on the Alia Madrasah ground in the capital's Bakshibazar.
Later, Khaleda's lawyers filed a written complaint showing no-confidence in the judge.
He instructed Khaleda Zia's lawyers to come up with High Court (HC) orders after they pleaded no confidence.
He set January 29 as the date for the next testimony hearing of the plaintiff, Anti-corruption Commission Deputy Director Harun Ur Rashid said.
