Khulna dist Jamaat ameer detained

KHULNA, Aug 14 (UNB): Police arrested the ameer of Khulna district (south) Jamaat-e-Islami AKM Tamiz Uddin from Koira Upazila sadar Thursday morning.

Sources at Koira Police Station said a team of the police station arrested Tamiz Uddin, also chairman of Koira Upazila Parishad, around 10 am while he was on way to his office at the upazila headquarters from his residence.

Police said the Jamaat leader was arrested following a secret information that he might create sabotage activities as the party earlier announced to stage demonstrations across the country Thursday protesting 'repression' on the party's leaders, including central leader Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud and Islami Chhatra Shibir leaders and activists in police custody.
