BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Tuesday alleged that the killing and abduction of opposition leaders and activists have now become the government's routine work, reports UNB.
"It seems that atrocious killing, abduction and forced disappearance of opposition leaders and activists have become daily affairs of the current fascist regime," the BNP spokesman issued the statement voicing deep concern over the reported missing of Sunamganj BNP leader Mujibur Rahman Mujib and his car driver Rezaul Haq Sohel.
Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the government is using the 'cadres of the ruling party and its associate bodies alongside the law enforcers in carrying out the heinous acts.
"The disappearance of Mujib and his car diver in Sunamganj manifests the dangerous anarchic situation created by the current illegal government across the country," he added.
Accusing the government of regularly carrying out killing, abduction and enforced disappearance in their bid to suppress their opponents, the BNP leader said Awami League cannot resist their fall by resorting to barbaric acts.
He warned that the ruling party would have to suffer dire consequences for their greed for hanging on to power.
Mr Fakhrul demanded the government immediately rescue Mujib and his driver and return them to their families unharmed.
