CHATTOGRAM, Mar 27 (UNB): A leader of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal has been hacked to death in the Chattogram's Barabkunda area of Sitakunda.
The deceased is Md Nasir Uddin (47), a resident of Hatilota village in Barabkunda union and organising secretary of Krishak Dal's Sitakunda unit.
Sitakunda Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mojibur Rahman said he came under attack around 7:00 pm on Wednesday while he was leaving his home after iftar.
A group of miscreants ambushed and hacked him before dumping his body in a nearby jungle.
Police later recovered the body.
Badiul Alam Badrul, convener of the Krishak Dal's north district unit, said Nasir had a longstanding dispute with some local people over soil trading in the area.
Police launched a drive to arrest those involved in the killing.
The body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, the OC added.
